I have a Sony MP3 player and a friend gave me an i-tunes gift card. How can I get songs from i-tunes that will play on my MP3 player?

iTunes thankfully sells songs in mp3 format now by default, so you should be able to purchase and download and then load them into whatever software you use to sync your device. As far as I know, iTunes still only syncs with Apple players so you'll have to go through that extra step.

Thanks -- I'll give it a try! – Vanessa Mar 12 at 1:53
I'd also suggest using a free program called DoubleTwist (doubletwist.com). This will automate syncing your iTunes library to other devices. It'll take your iTunes library and make sure stuff gets to your Sony MP3 in the correct format. – Jason Medeiros Mar 19 at 3:03

So that you're not surprised by what you're buying from iTunes, what you'll end up getting are actually m4a files.

Sony MP3 players, at least the ones on the the Sony Canada site, will play these (AAC is the name of the encoder used to create m4a files, in case you're not seeing m4a anywhere).
