Just as the title states... I am not computer friendly, but I would really like to know the way (safest way) to put a DVD onto an Ipod. I know it can be done...but when I get to different web sites I have alerts come up and quite frankly don't understand. (I am a military driver and would really like to be able to use this for long hauls.) Thanks everyone
Please Note: The SparkExchange is closing up shop. We decided to start SparkExchange as an experiment back in February 2010. Since that time, StackExchange (upon which SparkExchange is built) has made some changes. So, as of July 13, 2010, this site will no longer exist. Thanks to everyone who tried this experiment out with us. If you're looking for a larger (but similar) community, try Super User.

Handbrake is a free piece of software available for Mac, Windows, and Linux. It can rip DVDs and turn them into digital video files. Once you use Handbrake to create iPod-friendly files, you should be able to simply drag-and-drop the files into iTunes, then sync. |

Dan is correct - Handbrake is the easiest solution. Once the it's launched, it will ask for the DVD. Select the DVD, and then click Toggle Presets, which should produce a side-panel with a few options; Apple and inside there, iPhone and iPod Touch. I would select the destination as your desktop and once the video file is ripped, you can drag it onto iTunes, once they're in iTunes, you'll have to drag them to your iPhone, and you'll be watching your videos in no time. |
