<p>Hello. I want to reinstall debian on my computer. Whenever I insert the install disk it boots normally (as it would when you install Debian) and when it is 100% finished it beeps, like normal, but the screen stays black. Does anyone know why this is? The same disk works find on other computers with other displays. I'm using my TV as a display and using a VGA cable to connect it. The VGA cable has 3 pins missing, but it works fine when I boot onto the hard disk. The hard disk doesn't have a GUI installed.</p> <p>--EDIT--</p> <p>I think it might be because this is a different processor than the one that I tried before. I'll try it with the display that I know works when I can.</p>

<p>I have Windows Seven on a Compaq Pressario, with an HP Deskjet D2600 series printer. Microsoft Word doesn't work for me. When I click on print, the box in which I am supposed to choose number of pages, etc. doesn't appear, the printer turns off repeatedly, and sometimes I eventually get my copy. Too often, I get the notice,"Not responding", where nothing happens. Occasionally, I will get a copy if I wait 15 to 20 minutes. Other times, the whole computer freezes up, I turn it off, and when I turn it back on, it may work or it may not. My son checked into it, and got the message that 97 percent of the memory is being used by Spool SV. I am new to computer use (Dec. 2009). Is it my inexperience? Any suggestions. </p>

<p>I recently replaced my Win XP laptop with a Win 7 laptop. I transfer files daily from a Pocket PC data collector to and from my laptop. With Win XP I used Activesync with no problems. Win 7 requires me to use Windows Mobile for the transfers. A transfer that used to take a minute or so with Activesync can now take a half hour or more with Win Mobile. <p>Last night I downloaded the new 4.0.1 software update when prompted thru iTunes. My most major use of my iPhone is podcast listening through the iPod function. Now I can listen to podcasts on the iPhone and download them but nothing shows up in the iPod function. <p>I bought this Aspire Notebook in Jan. 2009, and have only run it on battery power for about 10 hours maximum, the rest of its time plugged-in on AC. The last time I tried it, in Feb. 2010, I found that the battery was not charging at all, and when I tried to run it on the battery, it was completely dead. Now, it seems that other users think the only way to fix the non-charging problem, is to update the BIOS, but I'm afraid to try this because of the inherent dangers in losing all of my software and data files.</p> <p>Does anyone have any first-hand experience with successfully fixing this problem? <p>I'm really new at this so please speak slowly when you reply. I tried recording two tracks using my PC running Windows XP and Audacity 1.2.6. I created a track of a straight forward voice and instrument. It sounded fine. Then I recorded another track to add some more instrumental. When I play it back it sounds like the second track includes a soft version of the first track. The effect is an echo like sound to the voice. It's not unpleasant but it's not what I expected. I thought I would be able to mute the first track and listen to the second by itself but the ghost of track one is always there.</p> <p>It's not coming from my speakers. They are turned off and I used headphones to hear the first track while I recorded the second. </p> <p>Ideas?</p>
